Takashi Mochizuki, by way of the Wall Street Journal, has taken over the early morning gaming news cycle claiming that Nintendo plans on releasing a new SKU for Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019. Claiming sources from publishers & hardware suppliers, Takashi claims that upgrades being considered are an improved LCD screen and an overall effort to make the console thinner and more energy efficient.
This would of course fall right into how Nintendo has conducted hardware business in the portable space over the past several generations with the 3DS, DS, DSi, and GBA consoles all of which featured at least 3 different iterations of hardware designs at different price points. So many in fact even Nintendo themselves have a 3DS comparison chart.
This is pretty exciting news and you can expect to hear all of our thoughts and opinions on the matter on tonight’s Nintendo Shack podcast.
